Beliefs
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, to reveal God to us and to be the final authority for our doctrine and our lives.
We believe that there is only one true God, who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is perfect, holy, all powerful, all knowing, eternal, ever present, just, loving and good. He is the Creator and sustainer of all things.
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, that they sinned in Eden, and consequently all people since have been born with a sinful natural that separates us from God and causes us to sin against God in thought, word, and deed. There is nothing we can do to overcome sin on our own.
We believe that Jesus is God, that he was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on a cross to pay for my sin and rose from the grave conquering death. He ascended into heaven and is the only savior of the world offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe in Him. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. Those who believe in Jesus will spend eternity with Him in heaven. Those who reject Jesus will be eternally separated from Him.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, that He convicts the world of sin, gives the gift of faith, lives in us, makes us holy, strengthens and equips each individual with spiritual gifts, and leads us to live a life worthy of my calling so that others might see our good works and give glory to our Father in heaven.
We believe that as a Christian we exist to bring glory to God and to share the good news of Jesus with the people around us through both words and actions. We believe that forgiveness and eternal life are ours because of God’s grace on account of Jesus.
We believe that the Christian Church exists for the glory of God, is under His authority, and is where people are taught the Word of God, encouraged in their faith, hear the forgiveness of their sins, find Christian community, participate in the Lord’s Supper, and are equipped to serve others. We believe that we are called to serve in the church through our time, gifts, and finances.
We believe that in baptism God forgives sins and gives us the gifts of the Holy Spirit and of faith. We believe that baptism is for all people of every age.
We believe that in the Lord’s Supper, Jesus, His body and blood, is truly present in the bread and the wine for the forgiveness of sins.
We believe that Luther’s Small Catechism is a true exposition of the Word of God.
