HISTORY

Believing in God’s Word and Spirit

We have been in Cloverdale since 1930 as Zion Lutheran Church and have recently relaunched as Hillside Christian Church. As we invest our energy into connecting with this neighborhood we realized that our name was becoming a barrier to people visiting our church and coming to know Jesus. As we keep centering everything we do on Jesus and His life giving message of forgiveness and love our hope is that the name Hillside Christian extends an open invitation to everyone.

Over the past 90 years we have built a strong relationship in Cloverdale through our church, our school (Surrey Christian), senior’s facility (Zion Park Manor), and through partnerships with organizations like the Surrey Food Bank. Everything we do, from ball hockey to Easter egg hunts and worship services, is done with the intention of seeing people connected to Jesus.

As a church our values are all about relationships starting with God. Every other relationship flows out of that first one including our relationship with our families, other Christians, and the world around us.

Grace and Transformation

We believe that the Bible is profoundly different than every other book in the world because it is the true Word of God. For that reason it is the final authority over all our lives and gives us our understanding of God, Jesus, grace, and salvation.
